he Senator succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident in the London area early this evening.
Confirming the news, County Police Commander Beatrice Kiranguri said Prengei was involved in an accident at Giotto on Nakuru-Sigor road.
Governor Lee Kinyanjui was among the top Nakuru county leaders to arrive at the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital after reports on the accident had emerged.
His colleague and close ally in the Senate Millicent Omanga has also confirmed the death while paying her tributes to the fallen youthful leader.
“Rest well my colleague and friend Hon. Victor Prengei, Nominated Senator. We shall forever cherish your tireless efforts in fighting for and protecting the rights of the minority communities in our Nation. We have lost a great leader. My condolences to your family, friends and the entire Ogiek community,” she penned her condolences on her social media handles.
Prengei was nominated by the Jubilee Party in 2017 to represent the youth in the Senate.
Before demise he championed having county administrations observe the ethnic diversity rule in public employment.
He was the first Ogiek community member of parliament and was seen as a voice of the minority community and the youth in the Kenyan political circles.
He was a proud alumnus of Mariashoni Primary School, Moi Secondary School- Amalo and later Maseno University for a BA – Economics.
