Former President Daniel Arap Moi is dead. This announcement was made on Tuesday morning by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mr. Moi has been in and out of hospital in the recent past after he underwent a knee surgery at the Aga Khan Hospital in January 2017.
The late President Daniel arap Moi came to power in 1978 following the death of his predecessor Jomo Kenyatta.
Moi was sworn in as the second President of Kenya and ruled for 24 years.
In 2002 he exited from politics and through the ruling party KANU, they endorsed Uhuru Kenyatta as the flag bearer for the presidential election who was defeated by former president Mwai Kibaki.
He leaves behind seven children: Gideon (Baringo Senator), Raymond (Rongai MP), Jeniffer, June, Philip, John-Mark and Doris.
