Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino will remain in remand for 7 more days pending bail ruling after denying attempted murder charge.
He was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi for shooting and injuring a DJ.
His lawyer Cliff Ombeta sought his release saying; “The accused person is the one that took the victim to hospital. He has gone ahead and paid Ksh.600,000 from his pocket to Nairobi Hospital for his treatment.”
“He is a family man, he cooperated with police in every step and is a Member of Parliament who has to go back to work.” added Ombeta.
Magistrate Andayi declined the plea for bail ruling stating that : “Given the gravity of the offence, the views of the victims are important before I give my ruling. It should be brought before me within the next seven days.”
The magistrate added that Babu will be remanded in prison and not a police station as had been sought by the defence team.
