Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri has revealed that the county is not ready to fight coronavirus .

He attributed the problem to the budget wrangles between Governor Anne Waiguru and the Kirinyaga ward representatives urging them to put their differences aside.

‘There are no medicines at our hospitals and dispensaries,” Ndambiri lamented adding that that the county has not met the 300 bed capacity requirement and it will be a disaster should the number of COVID-19 cases increase.

Ndambiri stated that there are only 14 beds at an isolation ward in Kerugoya Referral Hospital reiterating that they are not sufficient.

According to the DG, Kirinyaga County has no funds and will not be able to put various preventive measures in place.
