A family in Nyahururu town is seeking assistance to help them retrieve the body their daughter who drowned at the Thompson Falls two days ago.
The deceased woman identified as Jemimah Oresha and her brother Zablon Mangafu had visited the tourist attraction site on Sunday, July 26, when they opted to take pictures.
Ms Jemimah Oresha was taking photos on Sunday with other relatives when she slipped and fell into the waters.All efforts to retrieve the body have failed.
According to her brother .“I was the one taking the photos using my mobile phone when she accidentally fell. She was washed away by the waters and our efforts to save her failed as we also feared for our lives,” he said.
He revealed that his sister had travelled from Trans-Nzoia to visit them in Nyahururu and asked to be taken to the falls.“She insisted that she wanted to take a walk at the falls and we decided to walk downstream so as to get a clear view. It is said that it was her last moments.
All that we are asking for is help so that we can retrieve her body,” he said.Nyahururu Sub County Police Commander Geoffrey Mayiek said that a rescue mission had been launched but was being hampered by the high flow of the waters.
