Nairobi County Gov’t given go ahead to pay genuine pending bills


The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has given the Nairobi County government ago ahead  to pay genuine pending bills to contractors and suppliers.

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, in a letter to the County Secretary said the decision was arrived at upon realization that the ongoing case aganistt Governor Mike Sonko “will take longer than earlier anticipated.”

“In that regard, we are of the view that the County Government can pay the genuine supplies and contractors in line with existing laws and regulations on Public Finance Management,” said Mr. Mbarak.s.

“In the meantime, the Commission will closely monitor Pending Bills payment by the Nairobi County Government and take any action where necessary in accordance with it’s mandate,” he added.
