Kamiti Maximum Prison Escapees Captured

Detectives have captured the three terror convicts who escaped from Block 6A of Kamiti Maximum Prison last Sunday.

Musharraf Abdalla, Joseph Juma, and Mohammed Abdi have been arrested in Mwingi East, Kitui County after locals tipped area detectives, according to the DCI.

The three were suspected to be heading to Somalia.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a crisis security meeting, following a breach in security at the government’s maximum prison, and directed appropriate disciplinary action be taken against anyone found culpable.

Consequently, the Head of State sacked with immediate effect Kenya Prison Services Commissioner- General Wycliffe Ogalo and appointed Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba in his place.

The ousted Commissioner-General was later arrested alongside Kamiti Prison Commandant Charles Mutembei by the Anti-Terror Unit for questioning before they were released. Several wardens have been arrested following the jailbreak.

The state had placed a reward of Sh60 million for anyone who would provide information leading to their arrest.
