The Kigamboni bridge is the longest suspension bridge built in East Africa. The 680 metres bridge was built between 2012 and 2016 by the Chinese. it has 6 lanes (3 on each side) 2 pedestrian / cyclist lanes( one on each side).

It is owned by the GOT and NSSF 60% and 40% respectively.

Here in Kenya, Kilifi Bridge is the longest bridge with a total length of 420 metres. Nyali Bridge is 391 metres long. Kenya has at least one suspension bridge Masalani Bridge across River Tana is barely 100 metres.

This bridge replaced the the ferry in TZ while in Kenya we are more into political bridges than safety of the people in the coastal region.
