Police officers in Kabondo Kasipul have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man over Sh9,000.
Okeyo Obange was killed by youths who allegedly traced him to his home. His body was found near the gate on Saturday morning. His house was broken into.
The suspects allegedly robbed him of Sh9,000 before killing him. He had just sold a cow the day before.
Area chief James Oindi said the suspects are among the people Obange had accused of attacking him when he sold his first cow two weeks earlier. Obange had raised the alarm that some individuals had broken into his house and attempted to steal from him. He suffered injuries during the first incident.
The attackers disappeared after trying to strangle him, only to return on Saturday — this time accomplishing their mission. Oindi said they reported killing and investigations were initiated.
Police commander Charles Barasa on Sunday said the suspects are in their custody at Oyugis station. They are still pursuing other suspects.
“We expect the suspects to divulge more information about the death and their accomplices before they are arraigned,” Barasa said.
