The United Kingdom has urged citizens to be cautious when booking local flights  with Silverstone airline.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) stated that travelers should note that there is an ongoing audit inspection of the local airline.

“If you plan to charter a private aircraft, check with the company’s Safety Pilot about the condition of the aircraft and runways to be used. If the company has no Safety Pilot, find another company that does,” FCO said.

According to the FCO, there are some concerns about the lack of security arrangements at the airport that serves domestic flights.

Silverstone airlines has been involved in two incidents; on October 28, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Eldoret International Airport after a tyre fell off ,a month earlier, a plane from the same airline crashed at the Wilson Airport shortly after take-off.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said investigations into the incidents are underway.

“The audit is being performed in order to determine the level of compliance with the current Civil Aviation regulations and their own company approved manuals and procedures,” said KCAA Director General Capt. Gilbert Kibe.
