Prosecution opposes bail as Sonko is charged in Ksh.357M graft case

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts and charged with graft charges of upto Ksh.357 million.

The prosecution has opposed Governor Sonko bail application but has no objection to the release of the other accused persons on bail.

Appearing before  Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti, Sonko has been charged alongside eight other county officers.

The Governor and his co-accused have been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, failure to comply with procurement laws, conflict of interest, abuse of office and unlawful acquisition of public property.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
