Naivasha slaughter house to be closed ahead of a housing project

The county government of Nakuru has issued a two months notice to a slaughterhouse  based in  Naivasha.This is due to the planned construction of the 24,000 housing units under the affordable houses initiative.

The slaughterhouse lies on a 55-acre land that has been marked for the project set to commence next year.

In the notice the workers, butcheries owners and other traders have been directed to have moved out by January 31, next year.

Other hand have the Naivasha United Butchers association has vowed that they would not oblidge and have given the county 14 days to withdraw the notice.

Accompanied by their lawyer, the association claimed the county had not been provided with an alternative area for them to work at.
