CS Matiang’i, IG Mutyambai summoned to explain arrest of three Senators

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutymbai have been summoned to appear before the Senate on Wednesday to explain the arrest of three Senators: Christopher Langat (Bomet), Ltumbesi Lelegwe (Samburu) and Cleophas Malala (Kakamega).

CS Matiang’i was early Monday summoned to appear to answer questions leading to the arrests but declined saying he was unavailable due to recess granted to the Cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The officers had camped outside the Nyayo Estate house of Senator Langat and the Kitengela home of Malala for the better part of Sunday night and Monday morning.

Senator Lelegwe, on the other hand, was arrested on Monday morning on his way to the Senate and was taken back to Samburu for questioning.
