The National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA)Thursday suspended the operational licence of Modern Coast bus, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded.

The authority made the announcement after 7 people died and 62 others were injured when two Modern Coast buses on Wednesday night collided at Kiongwani area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

“The company’s access to the NTSA portal has been deactivated to limit any activities on their 88 vehicles, as the investigation continues,” said new NTSA Director General George Njao in a statement.

“The National Police has been advised to impound any of their vehicles from operating contrary to this suspension.”

Passengers who had booked Modern Coast buses for travel to various destinations on Thursday were left stranded following the directive.
