Education Ministry Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced that it will release funds to run public schools on Thursday as needy students and pupils are to receive free masks.
Speaking at the Kisumu National Polytechnic on Wednesday he said the decision to reopen the school for the three classes will be used as a guideline in observing how the situation unfolds.
During the tour, Prof. Magoha also said that the government will be disbursing the funds for free learning to schools from Thursday.
At the same time, he urged parents and teachers to ensure that other students have bought theirs when school resumes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Prof. Magoha said the progressive re-opening will begin with students in Grade 4, Class Eight and Form Four who are expected back to school from Monday, October 12.
Class Eight and Form Four students will sit their KCPE and KCSE exams in March 2021.
