Girls in public primary schools to get sanitary towels from Class 6

The government through the Education Ministry will distribute sanitary towels to teenage girls from classes 6 up to 8 in public schools.

The acting Director of Primary education Nereah Olick said  the move aims at reducing the rate of teenage pregnancies across the country.

According to her, this will help prevent them from entering into illicit engagements that can contribute to early pregnancies in the country.

Mrs. Olick  noted the need for a multi-sectorial approach in the fight against the increasing rate of teenage pregnancies in the country.
