The Catholic Church Demands an Apology From MP Adan Duale Over Cult Allegations. The Kenya catholic association of Bishops has condemned remarks by Garissa town Member of Parliament Adan Duale referring to the catholic church as a cult. In a letter released to the media, the Church termed Duale’s words as unacceptable, especially from a leader.
“We noted with displeasure a leader of this country Hon. Adan Duale a guest on citizen TV’S JKL on Wednesday 11, 2021, term the catholic church as a cult. While politicians in the country are allowed much leeway and freedom of expression, utterances that demonize other people’s faith cannot be condoned,” read a part of the letter.
The Church has given the Garrisa town Member of Parliament 72 hours to tender an apology.
Duale had earlier retrieved his statement and said he was referring to the Orange Democratic Party and
its party leader Raila Odinga.
